Weight loss would never be difficult if perseverance weren't
an issue.
It is the third element of any weight loss programm and of
equal
importance as eating habits and phisical activity.
How to deal with perseverance?
First and very important; make sure that you have a plan before you
start with a weight loss program like I described on the
"lose weight" page.
Here are some suggestions and ideas that could help you;
Take your time. Be patient. If you want to lose weight in a healthy
manner, you shouldn't lose more weight than 1 to 2 pounds a week. This
way you lose 15 to 20 pounds over a period of only three
months, which is a great achievement. It is good to set short-term
goals if your ultimate goal lies
further away in the future.
Have faith in yourself. People are capable of achieving all kinds of
things in life. Think of people who could serve as an example
to you. They managed to achieve their goal, why shouldn't
you?
Don't give up. Never. If someone offers you a delicious looking
treat that doesn't fit in your program, refuse politely. Fool
your brain a bit by thinking by yourself "I already had one
just a
minute ago". It helps. Put pictures of slender looking people on
strategic places like the fridge or the biscuit box. Just do it.
Find excuses to be activite. Make choices. Park the car further away
from the entrance of the shopping mall, take the stairs instead of the
elevator or escalator, don't use the remote control for your t.v. etc.
These are all examples of ideas that can easily be implemented during
daily activities. Find more.
Don't waste your energy on trying to find excuses not to start with or
not to
carry on with your program. There are no excuses. It's that
easy.
Go on with improving your
eating habits step by step, be
physical
active and stay with your program. You can do it. Just do it.
