About me and my views on personal training

Before you and I get started improving your health and fitness, I will share a few words concerning myself and my life-long passion for personal training,

As a 48-year-old married man and father of three fine children, I moved my family from The Netherlands to Canada in 2008. Why here? Because my parents lived in Toronto during the 1950s, and I grew up hearing wonderful stories about this country. My wife and I chose Port Sydney to be near other family in the area and, well, it’s beautiful here!

I owned several real estate and tourism-related businesses in The Netherlands and dealt with many people in a variety of circumstances. But in my spare time, I was fully dedicated to my family, fitness and sports – in that order. For more than 30 years, I studied, trained and experimented with the many existing methods of fitness training, with the intent of eventually joining the fitness industry.

After considerable training, I began working with individuals of all ages and physical abilities. I helped put them on track and saw how they benefitted from each approach.

What I also saw – and still see – is people feeling overwhelmed by the huge variety of exercise methods that flood the fitness market. I’ve seen people exercising on their own, following classes, buying fitness equipment or videos…and getting hurt or just giving up. Sound familiar?

But how do you choose the right fitness program for you when so many claim to be the best? Start by recognizing that you are an individual with unique needs and abilities like no one else. An exercise program should fit you, not the other way around! That’s my approach. I work one-on-one with you to develop realistic goals and a plan to meet those goals in a way that is right for you. I am passionate on ensuring that you reach your goals for improved health and fitness – and maintain or, even better, improve those levels. And, whether one-on-one or in group settings, I prefer to work with people in the environment where they feel most comfortable. Fewer distractions bring better results.

During the Free Consultation we talk about your health and fitness goals and explain you how we can help you to achieve your goals. We follow up with a physical assessment and end with a short training session to make you familiar with the equipment and to give you an impression of a regular workout.

Then we’ll ask you to make a decision about committing to your goals and one of the programs. You can answer yes or no, and either answer is ok.
